I hope nobody got thrown out of a game that was already over. Good luck next week, the Wave is a good ball club.
Spuds, you are so wrong. The ball has to go 10 yards to be recoverable by the kicking team, otherwise it is just a "bad kick". Read up on the rules, if you do not know what you are saying, do not say it. Just frindly advice.

did we have any excuses last time you guys beat us? I don't recall any...you guys just plain and simply out played us..
so did anyone get kicked out or not?
I've been trying to find out, but of course, I cannot get a answer...
figures and the answers that u will prob get will of course be speculation
I was walking to my truck when this happened....So I didn't see it, heard about it on the radio when I got in...

If the Dawgs kick it and CW touches it , it is live. Sorry ,doesn't have to go 10 yards that way.

You are right the ball only has to go 10 yards if the receving team does not touch it.

From who I have talked to #44 Robbins did indeed get ejected from the game yesterday for bogus reasons but they will try and appeal it so he will hopefully not have to miss any game action next week.
that is what i heard also
The folks from Clintwood were telling me last night at work that there is a meeting between the principals at Clintwood, Appy, and Norton Monday in an attempt to work this out. These folks were saying that Robbins was being pinched, and was attempting to get the player off, not throwing a punch, and according to them, they have solid evidence that will show it. I thought that stuff like this went directly to the VHSL (which of course would mean the kid is screwed)
if he was ejected, he's screwed, i know from experience
If an official ejected him, the schools cannot elect whether or not he plays. They can get together and file an appeal with the VHSL to overturn the official's ruling but they cannot overturn it themselves and allow him to play. The official's won't let him on the field, no matter what all the coaches agree on.
and those appeals aren't worth s hit
Appy's coaches will probably go along with the appeal, but from their point of view at the time - it brought 3 coaches onto the field.. Musta been a pretty clear look. The problem is the old thing about the second guy being caught, perhaps. I thought the refs had been slow to whistle several plays dead and allowed people to jump into some tackles late. I love to watch football, but the kids have to be protected ,at least to an extent. An earlier flag might have helped.

Yes, pretty much they can Raiderfan.
So your saying if the coaches agree on letting him play, that he can...I'm still confused..
I hope and pray they can.
VHSL will make it a forfeit if he plays.
It's a 2 game suspension.
Couple of years ago, there was a guy that just wanted to play his last game as a senior, without it being the playoffs and he didn't get in. I wouldn't count on the kid playing. I'm almost certain Appy won't stop it, but if the decision is up to the region or principals... we have these rules that must be followed to the letter. If they didn't then everybody would have a case.

This rule cost Appy a state ring.

Which year are you referring to?
Yes it did.
Court order said he played, if he didn't it was contempt.
If he did VHSL said it was a forfeit and the court could take a flying leap.
That about right?
Catch 22
I was at the Game, Hats off to Coach Mullins, he has never ran out to the middle of the field complaining about a player on the other Team............my opinion is that the assistant Coach for Appy not only embarrased Himself, but his College Team (Tech). Coach Mullins took his first string out of the game and that is how Appy scored their two TD's. Robbins was on the field only because Clintwood had there return team in. The only real foul I saw was on a Appy assistant Coach. It saddens me that he is Married to a Clintwood Girl. What a POOR SPORT....tell him I said that, He reminds me of a past Wise coach who wouldn't shake Clintwoods Hands after a game they won at wise 6 years ago, thank the Lord he no longer Coaches here...........and one more thing it's FOOTBALL, it's a rough game,.....grow up, be a sport or get out of the game. If your best offense is to punish a young man playing Football and defending himself....than take your spoiled, poor sport attitude to the HOUSE.................
The year Middlesex beat Appy.
Do you mind telling me who that might be?
I know for a fact that if the principal and coach from the opposing school are ok with the player playing the following week, the VHSL will override the suspension. I've tread that path before...and it was just a couple years ago. The rules then are the same as now (just got changed from 1 game to 2 that year). The Appy kid from 93 got tossed vs Rural Retreat, and there was all kinds of injunctions etc..it was a mess. But that was a different circumstance.
I didn't mean to do that. I will send a PM.
Well, this may be a little bit off topic, but at least it'll get everybody off complaining about sportsmanship for a second or two. I was really impressed with the Appy band. I hadn't got to hear them play this season. They were easily the best I've heard in a few years. Clintwood gave them a standing ovation.
I agree I miss Clintwood haveing a band
Who, who might be?
In a way, I'm kind of surprised that Rick hasn't voluntarily benched the player for next weeks game.
I've known Rick since he played football himself, and he is probably one of the most conservative coaches I've ever known. He's never been one to put up with any bs from any of his players.

Agreed, but from everything I and others have heard about the situation, Robbins doesn't deserve a suspension at all. It's one thing to take a swing at someone for the sake of being unsportsmanlike, it's a whole another thing to try to hit somebody when they're purposefully trying to hurt you & take you out after the whistle.
Rick's a stand-up guy, but he isn't one to take something laying down if he feels his guy wasn't in the wrong.
Another player told me that robbins was being pinched in a pile so he pushed the guy off. He said he thought they were going to appeal the suspension but it wont go through by saturday if vhsl is slow as usual
I've heard some different accounts of the situation, and I can't speculate as to what Robbins was thinking when it happened. But, at the same time, if a referee goes far enough to eject a player, then I have to believe that they saw or heard something to warrant it. I haven't seen many players ejected from games this season.

Don't you see, it never happened. If it did, Coach Mullins would have benched him.
